Harry Titus Hale, 84, of Bridgeport, N.Y., passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at Loretto Health and Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse, N.Y. Born May 16, 1933, in Portland Conn., he was the son of Truman and Doris (Ledgard) Hale. He graduated from Portland High School in 1951 and Norwich University in 1955. Upon graduation, he was hired by Carrier Corp. as a development engineer. He entered active duty with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and spent 15 months in Germany. Upon discharge, he returned to Carrier in Syracuse and served in the New York State National Guard until 1965. Over the next 39 years, he moved up the ranks at Carrier from chief engineer of residential products to president of the Carlyle Compressor Division, then vice president of Carrier Corp. and finally director of research and development. During his career, he developed numerous patents. He retired in 1995. He was a longtime member of the Chittenango Central Schools Board of Education. He also was a member of the Bridgeport-Lakeport Civic Organization and prepared taxes for seniors through the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. 

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann, of Bridgeport; one son, Hudson Hale (Astrid) of LaQuinta, Calif; two daughters, Kathleen Hale (George Berry) of Wexford, Pa., and Margaret Partington (John) of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and cousins. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Grace Hill, Janet Keeney and Arline Gilbert; and an infant brother. 

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at Traub Funeral Home, 7975 NY-31, Bridgeport. The service will immediately follow with the Rev. Diane DiLuzio officiating.
