Jennifer A. (Carter) Van Gorden

Jennifer A. Van Gorden (Carter), 41, of Bridgeport passed away on Saturday, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a graduate of Chittenango High School. Jennifer worked for several years in the health care field providing compassionate care to the elderly as well as to those with developmental disabilities. She greatly enjoyed working with her clients, and the joy was reciprocated. Jennifer looked for the best in people, and in difficult times, she sought to understand and uplift. Jennifer was one of a kind and a great source of comfort for so many. To know her, was to truly love her!
Jennifer is predeceased by: her paternal grandparents, Herbert E. Carter Sr. and Eleanor Carter; her maternal grandfather Daniel P. McFall; her father-in-law Dennis O. Van Gorden; and her brother-in-law Michael Van Gorden.
Jennifer is survived by: her husband, Matthew Van Gorden; step-children Collins and Brooke Van Gorden; her parents, Herbert E. and Lynda Carter; her maternal grandmother, Anne McFall; her mother-in-law, Agnes Van Gorden; her brother, John P. Carter; her sisters, Debra (Tim) Wilke; and Jill (Lucian) Gozzi; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, February 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Traub Funeral Home, Bridgeport, N.Y. A Christian service will be held on Thursday, February 16 at 10 a.m. at Traub Funeral Home, burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse, N.Y.
