Sandra Sakonyi, 69, of Constantia, passed away at her home on Monday, surrounded by family. She dedicated her life to serving her community as not only a Girl Scout leader of ten years, but as president for both the K of C and VFW Auxiliary. Sandra enjoyed cooking dinners for the various receptions at Post 7325 in Constantia, but saw her true passion in leadership, moving from Post President, to Oswego County President, on to 5th District President of the VFW Auxiliary. In her personal time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitching, and was an avid reader. Through it all, she was first, and foremost, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who loved to travel the world with her husband of 49 years. She is predeceased by her son, Mark Andrew Sakonyi.

   She is survived by her husband, Ronald Sakonyi; her children, Brenda (Russell) Harrington, Ronald (Debbie) Sakonyi II, Tina Caskinett, and Kathleen (Adam) Ellis; 12 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

   Services will be Thursday, 10 am, at St. Bernadette Church, 1667 Rt. 49, Constantia. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 4-7 pm, also at St. Brenadette’s.
