Dale R. Hughes

Dale R. Hughes, 76, of Cicero, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2019.

Born in Ilion, Dale graduated from Central Square High School Class of 1960 where he met and married his wife of 50 years, Barbara Bortel Hughes. The two grew up on Oneida Lake in Brewerton, where Dale enjoyed boating, trap shooting, and spending time with friends and family. Over the years, he enjoyed his many pets and maintaining his John Deere tractor. He occupied his time designing and engineering gadgets. Dale then enlisted in the Navy; after his service he returned home to begin his career with General Motors in the Fisher Body division in Syracuse as an engineer. After the plant closure, Dale stayed with General Motors, moving to Adrian, MI to finish his career and retire.

Dale is survived by his daughter and her husband Linda and Brian DiMartino, their son, Connor DiMartino. He was predeceased by his high school sweetheart, Barbara, and his only brother, David A. Hughes.

Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, March 10th, from 11 AM to 1 PM, at Traub Funeral Home, 684 N. Main St., Central Square with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 pm.  Burial in Hillside Cemetery will take place in the spring. Please visit www.traubfh.com for Online Guest Book.
