David A. French
August 9, 1956 ~ March 31, 2017 (age 60) 60 Years OldOn March 31st, 2017, David A. French, was granted his Angel wings. David was a former resident of Palermo, currently residing in Cicero. He was a graduate of Mexico Academy, active in football and weight lifting and was instrumental in founding the weight lifting team.
David was a compassionate soul, a gentle giant. His heart was as large as his 6 foot 5 inch frame. For many years he volunteered with McFee Ambulance and coached Babe Ruth Little League. He was employed with GE for 13 years and retired from CNY DSO after 22 years. He was the recipient of the Ruth Abeling Memorial Award for “Making Others Feel Special”. It was David’s mission in life to make others laugh and feel important.
An avid sportsman, David enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and was a passionate Syracuse Orange sports fan.
David was predeceased by his parents, Walter French and Evelyn Viddler French. Sister, Sarah “Sally” Arnold. Brother, Walter “Jimmy” French and nephew, Patrick French.
Surviving to cherish David’s memory, is his loving wife, Katherine Knight French. Also, a stepson, Nicholas (Debbie) Stadelmann. Three step grand children: Andrue, Dyllan, and Nicholas. Sister in law, Doris French, nephew Dwayne (Cindy) Arnold, and niece, Jaime (Lupe) Tijerina.
Calling hours will be Monday, April 3rd from 4-6PM at Traub Funeral Home, Central Square. Services will follow at 6PM. Family and friends will gather at the Hastings Volunteer Fire Department immediately after services.
Spring Burial will take place at the Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish, NY.
