David "Pappa" A. Pope, Sr.

David "Pappa" A. Pope Sr, 54, of Mexico, passed away peacefully with his family around his bedside on Wednesday. He enjoyed NASCAR and was a huge SU Basketball fan.  David worked for Cole Muffler and Janitronics.  He was also the "Mayor of Subway", in Mexico, NY.  He was a loving and caring family man who was loved by all.  David loved his many grandchildren unconditionally.  He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Pope, a granddaughter, Paiton Pope and a brother, Martin Pope.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lori (Borland) Pope; six children, Heather Davis, Tara (Ricky) Johnson, Michael (Cassandra) Davis, Joseph (Jen) Pope, David (Alyse) Pope Jr. and Tonya (Josh) Zielinski; his dog, Mimi; 17 grandchildren, Brianna, Bubby, James, Joey, Jason, Conner, Brooklyn, Maddie, Maliki, Relehonna, Clayton, Dezzy, Kaylee, Lyla, Beau, Makayla and Bentley; 7 siblings, James, Betty Mills, Michael, Steven, Dawn Preeman, Todd, and Heather; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday (02/06/19) from 5-7PM at Traub Funeral Home, Central Square.  Services will follow at 7PM at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
