Donald B. Myers, Sr., 87, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday.
Born to Seward and Ruth Myers, Don enlisted in the Marines, as a young man, in 1951 and served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired after 20 years of service. Don continued on to school and became a Golf Course Superintendent at Griffis Air Force Base, Rogues Roost, Village Green, and Cazenovia Golf Courses. Golf was a big part of his life along with hunting and fishing.
Don is predeceased by his parents and his wife Rose Myers. He is survived by his daughter Teri (Steve) Smith; son Donald B. (Tracey) Myers, Jr.; sisters Jeri (Ted) Marshall and Rita (Tom) Bertrand; grandchildren Brian (Alicia) Smith, Kevin Smith; Wyatt Myers, and Nicole Myers; and great grandchildren Alexandria and Eleanor Smith.
Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, 5-7 pm, at Traub Funeral Home, 7975 Rt. 31, Bridgeport, with a service to follow at 7 pm. Burial in Bridgeport Cemetery, with military honors, will take place in the spring.
