Eric A. Mattice

Eric Mattice, 56, of Fulton, peacefully passed away on Monday, May 13, 2109. During his illness he was surrounded by friends and loved ones.

Born in Fulton, N.Y., Eric grew up in Pennellville, N.Y., and resided most of his life in Fulton. He was a graduate of J. C. Birdlebough H.S. in Phoenix and also attended SUNY Oswego for a time.  He was a member of the Cub Scouts and participated in Pop Warner football, wrestling and track in his youth. He loved animals, nature and climbed many of the mountains in the Adirondacks. Eric lived his life as an artist, driven to create with an undying devotion to his beliefs and painted throughout his life. He was a gentle and kind person who did not judge anyone and lived with an endless optimism.

He was a prolific songwriter and musician, a member of the band "Dress Code" who released a record "Alone In The Crowd" in 1980, which has since become a highly collectable indie record. His art was collected by those who admired his offbeat original style and subject matter. Collectors as far as NYC have his works in their collections. He also painted murals at various locations in CNY. Eric's passing has left us with an example of purity and authenticity of heart that will be an inspiration to all who knew him.

Eric is predeceased by his father Richard Mattice. He is survived by his mother Nelma; and siblings Nelma, Elliott  and Ingrid.

Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 1-3 pm at Traub Funeral Home, Inc., 684 N. Main Street, Central Square with Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 pm..Burial in Pine Plains Cemetery will be held at a later date.
