The beautiful and unforgettable Gretchen M. Tomasino passed away quietly on the morning of January 7, 2018.  Gretchen was 91 years old; born on October 19, 1926, in Lysander to Mother Mable Hosford and Father, Sorel Hosford.

Gretchen was an avid gardener and took great pride in her yearly garden treasures.  In previous years, Gretchen loved to fish at her camp on Devil’s Lake and enjoyed working in her ceramic shop in Liverpool, New York.  Gretchen also enjoyed making amazing patch work quilts and other decorations.  Gretchen was an amazing cook/baker and made the best strawberry rhubarb pie you will ever taste.  She also enjoyed feeding the birds with her many bird feeders/bird watching in her gardens.

Gretchen was pre-deceased by her husband, Gilmer M. Tomasino, and her brother, Morris Hosford.

Surviving Gretchen are her two sons, Michael (Theresa) Tomasino, Gilmer, known as “Butch,” Tomasino, nieces and nephews, Melissa Adsitt, Brenda LoMascolo, Donna Leonard and William Hosford, four grandchildren (Christine (Richard) Schaad, Jennifer Tomasino, Nick Tomasino (Darcy) Tomasino and Michael Tomasino, Six Great-Grandchildren (Randi, Mark, Miah, Jaycee, Natalie and Roland) and one Great-Great- Granddaughter, Elena.

Gretchen will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  As per Gretchen’s request, there will not be calling hours or services.  A celebration of life will be held for Gretchen in the next coming weeks for close family and friends, invitations will be sent by first class mail.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of CNY or the SPCA.  Our family would like to extend a special thank you to her friend, Michelle Marshall Maslak, for helping take such great care of our loved one at the times that we could not be there.
