James Edmond Proulx, 87, of Hastings, NY passed away at home Friday with his family by his side.
Born in Jerden Falls, NY to the late Edmond Joseph Proulx and Rose Chartrand Proulx, James was an Army Veteran of the Korean War Era. He married his wife Veronica in 1952 and they celebrate 67 years of marriage. James retired as a carpenter from Pass & Seymore of Solvay, NY in 1994. James never slowed down continuing his carpentry and volunteer work. He always said he was the “Jack of all trades and master of none” even though his family knew he was a master carpenter. James was a devout Catholic and did volunteer work for the Downstairs Scotty and Unity Acres. James was pre-deceased by his siblings, Rosemary Bush, LaMoyne Schwendy and Anthony Proulx; and two grandchildren, Alicia Proulx and Angella Lewis.
Surviving are his wife Veronica; eight Children; Jacqueline Brockett (Timothy) Parish, NY, Gary (Debra) St. Joseph MI, Donna Proulx Hastings, NY, Mark (Ava) Pahrump, NV; Patty Smith (David) Central Square, NY, Sue Perkins (Ronald) Palermo, NY, Amy Gorman (Matthew) West Monroe, NY, and Stephen (Teresa) Parish, NY; 22 Grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; His siblings, Jane Stinson, Clare Owens, Dorthea Nortz, Mary Ellen Baker and David Proulx; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 4-7pm Wednesday at Traub Funeral Home, 684 N. Main St., Central Square. A mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Thursday at Divine Mercy Parish. Burial will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish, NY.
