Robert E. Hanson

Robert E. Hanson, Jr., 68, a lifelong resident of the Central Square area, passed away on Sunday. Mr. Hanson served eight years with the US Air Force where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and served two tours in Vietnam with his canine partner, Hercules. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal. A graduate of Paul V. Moore High School and OCC where he was awarded a degree in Humanities. Mr. Hanson worked for Reymore Chevrolet for 27 years before retiring in 2016. Mr. Hanson died as a result of a long battle with multiple diseases from many years of smoking. He is predeceased by his brother, Richard “Doobers” Hanson.

He is survived by siblings, Alan and Barb Hanson, Lynn and Pete Squires, Theresa and Rick Engle, Jim and Tina Hanson, Tim Hanson, Dave and Lisa Hanson, and Chris and Kay Hanson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, 5- 7 PM, at Traub Funeral Home, Central Square. A Memorial Service will follow at 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s or Golisano Children’s Hospitals.
