Shirley M. Metott, 72, of Williamstown, passed away on Thursday at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
Shirley was born on August 26, 1946 in Florence, NY at home on the family farm to the late Walter and Edna Kinney. She attended local schools in Camden. After her schooling, she met Herbert Metott and they married on July 2, 1968. Herbert later passed on April 4, 1994. She spent much her life raising her children and grandchildren, she took care of everyone. Shirley was very active in the Westdale Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, but her greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her three sons, Herbert (Becky Hazelwood), David (April), Donald (Lori), all of Williamstown; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Wickham; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and unofficially adopted children. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert; one sister, Karen Boyce; one brother, Walt (Bo) Kinney.
Calling hours will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Traub Funeral Home, Central Square, with a funeral service immediately following.
