Sylvia Rosalie (Matthys) Rio, 82, of Caughdenoy, passed away peacefully at home on Monday.
She was born July 11, 1936 in Central Square and was a graduate from Central Square Schools. She was a loving mother of five children and a devoted wife. During her life she worked for the US Postal Service as a Mail Carrier and Clerk; after retiring she worked in the deli at the Red Onion, owned by her family.
Sylvia is survived by her husband Russell of 65 years; two sons Donald and Bruce; three daughters Denise, Susan, and Karen; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and brother Richard.
Private services were held Friday, October 19, at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery, in Central Square, with Father Chris Celentano officiating. She will be remembered by all as a humble, loving, and beautiful mother, wife and friend. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made at the American Cancer Society.
