William "Bill" Skay, 85, of Syracuse, passed peacefully on Friday at Brookdale Senior Living in Fayetteville.
Bill served in the US Army from 5/10/1957 to 5/4/1959. He met and married Margaret "Peggy" Owens and started his career with Peggy's parents at Mulhauser Florist in Nedrow. Bill then went on to work for City of Syracuse Green House followed by the City of Syracuse Parks and Recreation where he retired as Foreman. He also enjoyed working at the War Memorial and NYS Fair.
Bill and Peggy cherished their time together at their summer home at Green Point at Sandy Pond where they enjoyed fishing, boating, ice fishing, and relaxing at the beach with their friends and family, until her passing in 1994. Bill continued to enjoy his home at Sandy Pond until recent times.
Bill is predeceased by his wife; parents; and brother. He is survived by his daughter Cyndy (Mark) Brancato; grandson Drew Brancato; granddaughter Lauren (Todd) Ostrander; great grandchildren Todd Jr., Ada, and Jack; and loving dog Wyatt.
A Graveside Service, followed by a Military Service, will be held on Thursday, 11 am, at Onondaga County Veteran's Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Sandy Pond Sportsman's Club and/or the Cicero VFW.
