With deep heartache, we share the passing of Alexandra H. Knipp, who left this world far too soon at the age of 39 on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025, at Crouse Hospital following a brief illness. Alexandra, known lovingly as Alex (or Sissy as she was affectionately called by her siblings), was a radiant soul who made the world noticeably brighter simply by being in it. She was a light in the dark for so many, offering kindness, loyalty, humor, and love with no limits and no conditions.
Alex saw beauty everywhere. She found it in the quiet magic of Lake Ontario, in the wild wonder of flowers, mushrooms, rocks, and crystals, and in the smallest overlooked moments of everyday life. She loved to collect unique treasures and could often be found hunting for them at markets and estate sales. She adored her beloved dog, Raven, who was her constant companion, and she was a fiercely loyal New York Yankees fan. Nature soothed her, inspired her, and reflected the gentle, grounded spirit she carried within her.
Alex’s greatest love, however, was always her children. Her sons Maxwell (Max) and Tobias (Toby) Ayre were her entire world. She never missed a moment when it came to them, especially Max’s track meets and Toby’s baseball games, cheering from the sidelines with overflowing pride. She was a dedicated band-mom, volunteering for both boys’ band and drumline performances. She lived fully for their passions, their milestones, and their growth. There are no words strong enough to measure the depth of her devotion as a mother.
A lifelong Central Square resident, Alex pursued higher education at SUNY Onondaga Community College and Elmira College, and for the past six years she was a dedicated and respected Buyer at Burns Bros. Contractors. She was admired not only for her professionalism and work ethic, but for her compassion, humor, and the genuine care she extended to everyone around her.
Alex was preceded in death by her father, James P. Knipp, with whom she now reunites in peace. She is survived by her cherished sons, Maxwell and Tobias; her adoring mother, Helen Knipp; her beloved siblings, Rebecca Knipp (Cooper Creagan) and Zachary Knipp, her dear friend Keri (Kyle) Veal and her bonus niece and nephew Magnolia and Giovanni, all of whom will carry her spirit forward through love, memory, and the countless ways she shaped their lives. Her boys will be cared for by their loving father, Christopher Ayre.
Alex also leaves behind a vast and loving extended family: several aunts, uncles, cousins, and dog-nephews. She was a best friend to many and loved her community like her family. Her circle was as plentiful and far-reaching as her heart. She had a way of making everyone feel chosen, seen, and deeply valued. She always showed up for the people she loved with loyalty, authenticity, and open arms.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm, at Traub Funeral Home in Central Square, New York. A celebration of Alex’s life is being arranged with details to be announced at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, a donation link has been established to support Max and Toby and their future endeavors, ensuring that Alex’s sons, her greatest legacy, are surrounded by the same love and opportunity she worked tirelessly to give them. If preferred, donations can be directed to their fund via their aunt, Rebecca Knipp, at 23 Garden Drive, Fairport New York 14450.
Though her time here was far too brief, Alex’s love was vast, her heart was generous, and her spirit was unforgettable. The world is quieter without her laughter, dimmer without her light, but better forever because she was here.
