Allen R. Davis Sr.

Allen R. Davis Sr., 71, of Hastings, passed away at home on Saturday November 09, 2024 with his friends and family by his side.

A Celebration of Life will be held in “Big Al’s” honor on Saturday, November 30 from 3-7 PM at the American Legion in Central Square.

Allen was born on June 18, 1953 to the late Allen E. and Pauline Davis. He worked various jobs and was a ‘jack of all trades’; dedicating many years at the Penny Curtiss Baking Co. and even farming dairy cattle for a time.

His strong personality was one of his biggest character traits. You could always count on Allen to tell you like it was- no filter. Though he was stubborn at times, he was also resilient in the best ways. An extremely hard worker, he loved building things, woodworking, and could fix just about anything. Allen set an upstanding example for his sons growing up, and was a loving husband to his wife Sonja until her eventual passing. 

The camp up at Crystal Lake was one of Allen’s favorite places to be, whether it be fishing or just enjoying the outdoors. Western Movies were a favorite of his too; especially John Wayne, earning him his nickname, “The Duke” amongst friends and family. 

He also had a significant love for Indian Motorcycles, and even took a cross-county trip to Sturgis, SD for their annual Biker Rally (which happens to be the largest in the world).  

Besides his parents, Allen is predeceased by his wife; Sonja Davis, and a son; Kevin Davis.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; A.J. & Christine Davis, and John Davis, his grandchildren; Michael Iffland, Jacob Davis, Adriana Hancock, Alexa Davis, and Landon Davis as well as 6 siblings, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
