Ann Raymon Drake, 89, of Central Square, NY passed away peacefully at Francis House with her family by her side on January 30, 2025.
Ann was born on February 20, 1935 in Ogdensburg, NY to Ruth and Leon Raymon. Her younger years were spent on the family dairy farm located outside of Theresa, NY. She was active in 4-H throughout her youth.
Ann received her nursing diploma as an RN in 1955 at the House of Good Samaritan in Watertown, NY. She began her nursing career in the operating room at Samaritan and worked in many positions over the years to include private duty in Syracuse, NY and school nursing in the Central Square School District.
Ann married Dean Drake of Philadelphia, NY on June 2, 1956 and together they raised their children in Central Square, NY. Dean and Ann supported their children’s activities such as marching band, sports, 4-H, and scouting. Summers involved camping together as a family. In retirement Dean and Ann enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Ann was an avid seamstress and knitter; she enjoyed sewing and knitting for her children and grandchildren. She loved to bake, read, and do jigsaw puzzles. Ann was passionate about antiquing and collecting cobalt blue depression glass.
Ann is survived by son Larry (Trudy) of Greenville, ME, daughter Lori (Matt) of Theresa, NY, and son Dale (Stacy) of Skaneateles, NY. Ann is also survived by her brother John Stewart Raymon, four grandchildren and one great grandson. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years Dean Drake, infant daughter Martha Lee Drake, and brother Richard Raymon.
Traub Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Central Square in the spring.
