Anna Holowczenko Obituary

Anna Holowczenko, 80, of Bridgeport, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 04, 2026.

Born in Germany in 1946 to Michael and Anna Adamczak, Anna moved to the U.S. when she was 2 years old. Anna graduated from high school and business school before marrying her sweetheart, Alex Holowczenko, in 1967 and went on to work at several local companies while raising her four beloved children.

Anna predeceased in death by her parents, husband Alex, and companion John, and is survived by her children Valentina (Russell), Matthew (Roman), Mark (Amy) and Andrew (Tracy), her grandchildren; Alyssa (Alex), Shane, Alexis, Angela and Helena, her sister; Kathy (Ralph), her nieces; Laura (David) and Diana, her great nephew; Jacob, great nieces; Caley and Amelia, and many extended family members.

She took special joy in tending to the small family farm, their livestock, and her gardens and canning the bounty harvested from the crops. As a self-proclaimed "domestic engineer," the loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother's favorite pastimes and hobbies included puzzles, reading, knitting, sewing, crocheting, quilting, cards, bowling, and fishing. Anna possessed a special talent for Pysanky (decorating Ukrainian Easter eggs). Although she was a strong willed woman, Anna is best known for being a fun, caring, comforting, and tough, yet caring soul who fiercely protected her loved ones and took pride in her Ukrainian heritage.

A private funeral service was held for the immediate family on Friday, February 6, at the Traub Funeral Home in Bridgeport, with her burial taking place at the Pine Plains Cemetery of North Manlius later this summer.
