Arlene Hoffman Obituary

Arlene Hoffman, 75, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, in Syracuse, New York, with her daughter and niece at her side. Born on December 10, 1949, her life was marked by resilience, strength, and a deep, unwavering love for those around her. Her last few years have been a struggle.

A 1968 Syracuse Beauty School graduate, Arlene brought skill and dedication to her work at Liquor Square where she worked for many years and numerous other pursuits along with a passion for Bartending where she could offer an open ear to all patrons alike.

At 48, a stroke left her paralyzed on her right side. With determination and perseverance, through rehabilitation she learned to do everything with her left side, inspiring everyone who knew her. She was able to carry on and live by herself with help from family and friends who loved her, enjoyed her company and sense of humor despite the challenges she faced.

She was “everybody’s mom,” she welcomed not only her own children but also nieces, nephews, stepchildren, and neighborhood kids, creating a warm, accepting place and open door for all. She became a grandmother at the young age of 38 and offered much of her time supporting and spoiling her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her Father Victor Dziedzic at a very young age but was raised with unconditional love from her Mother Elizabeth Dziedzic, who married Ted Ostrowski, both predeceased as well and her husbands, James Hack and Paul Hoffman. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Love, and her son, Michael Hack. Nieces, Kim Pisik, Mary Richard, and Donna Miller (All of whom she was referred to as their “Aunt Honey”). She was blessed with and loved by two grandchildren, David and Darren Love, and four great grandchildren. Her legacy and tough stubborn demeanor lives on in them and in the many lives she touched with her loving spirit.

May her memory bring peace and comfort to all who loved her. A celebration of her life will be held in the future for her family and loved ones.
