Barbara Ann McCormack House 1716 Madison Lane, The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 6, 2023. She celebrated her 90th birthday last October. Barb was born in Colomer, NY October 29 ,1932. Her parents were Edward McCormack & Eva Fuller McCormack Reymore Willenbrock. Her father died when she was 11 years old. William Reymore became her devoted step-father. He was the original owner of Codner-Reymore Chevrolet in Central Square, NY. She was predeceased by her high school sweetheart and husband of 47 years, Eddie House and her eldest son, James House.
Barb and Ed bought Reymore Chevrolet Sales in the late 1950’s from her step-father, & built a successful Chevrolet business together. As owners, Barb was the bookkeeper and Ed managed the sales & service. They received several awards from Chevrolet for the quality of their business & won many worldwide trips as a result. They purchased Kabel Chevrolet in Redwood, NY in 1977. It became House Chevrolet Sales. Barb became the first woman Chevrolet dealer in New York State.
Being business owners in Central Square, they became very active in the Village of Central Square. She was involved with Lions Club, Home Bureau, Eastern Star, & many times actively organizing various activities.
The majority of their summers were spent enjoying the St. Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay, NY. Enjoying a good boat ride, and singing at the player piano were on the top of her list. Their retirement years were spent in Florida.
Golf was one of Barb’s passions. She was a long time member of the Alexandria Bay Women’s Golf League. One year she received a trophy for being the number one player in the league. Getting two hole-in-one’s always gave her bragging rights. She enjoyed playing golf well into her 80’s.
Survivors include two daughters: Connie Wagoner (Bob), Lisa Day (Darrell), and a son, Ron House (Julie), daughter-in-law Nancy House. She was blessed with ten grand-children: Brian (Marcy) House, Cheryl Camp (Chris), Johnna (Jim) Covey, Rob (Becky) Wagoner, Tosha (Paul) Farmer, Jennifer (Chris) House, Bill (Elissa) Stuhlinger, Ryan (Nikki) Grassmann, Garrett (Ashley) Grassmann, Nick Grassmann. A step grandson,Craig (Heather) Peabody, step grand daughter Hailey Peabody, 11 great-grandchildren: Morgan Coburn, Abby House, Connor LaVigne, Kiera Covey, Kale Covey, Maddox Wagoner, Layne Wagoner, Quinn Farmer, Everly Farmer, Minka Stuhlinger, TaberStuhlinger. Step great-grandchildren: Ava Peabody, Kelly Peabody, Sage and Leo and two great-great grandchildren on the way.
Arrangements are with Traub Funeral Home 684 North Main Street, Central Square, NY. Calling hours are 4:00-6:00 Tuesday June 13th. Funeral and celebration of life will be held at Traub’s Funeral Home 12:30 June 14th. Burial @ Hillside Cemetery immediately following her funeral. She will be buried next to her husband.
