Barry Douglas Fischer

Barry Douglas Fischer, 76, of Brewerton, New York passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 17, 2023 with his daughter beside him.  His death follows a difficult and very brave three year battle with cancer.

Barry was born and raised in Liverpool and Central New York remained his home for the entirety of his life.  Barry was very proud to have served his country as US Navy veteran. Barry was employed at Salina Body Co in Syracuse, New York but in more recent years, he enjoyed his retirement at his home on Oneida Lake.  He enjoyed car shows and took much pride in driving and showing off his GTO "BDs Goat".  Barry was an avid NASCAR and Yankees fan. 

He is survived by his only child, daughter, Karen Fischer Santy and 2 grandchildren, James Martin Santy, Jr (Rachael) and Malarie Cheryl Santy all of Liverpool.  He also leaves behind his furry best friend, Buddy Cat. 

He is predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Bill Fischer and his sister Cheryl Horn. Barry was surrounded by an extensive, loving circle of friends and neighbors, some from childhood, who supported him for many years. Barry's quick wit and sarcastic humor will be missed by all who knew him. He kept his ability to laugh at any situation right up to the end of his life.

No formal services will be held per Barry's wishes. His family and friends will gather to celebrate his memory at the lake at a later time.
