Bernadette C. "Bunny" Steckel, 89, of Camillus, New York died Friday, December 23, 2022 with family at her side in Loretto Fahey, Syracuse, New York. Born in Canton, New York, daughter of the late Frank and Julia Cunningham Palmer. Frank died very young and Julia met and married Harley Daniels who raised the "Palmer Girls" as his own. In addition to Frank, Julia and Harley, Bunny was predeceased by her husband, Milton P. "Mook" Steckel in 2011, sisters, Rita Lalone and Theresa Vincelette,.
Raising seven children, including twins, she found time to be active and on the board of directors of The Mothers of Twins and Triplets Club, Syracuse Geddes Microds and the New York State Microd Association. One of her fondest memories was the years she work at Bob's True Value in Fairmount, New York where she developed life long friendships. She also enjoyed numerous hobbies and activity's with her favorite, heading east to play the slots.
Mom is survived by her children, Donna (Rick) Molta, Paul, David (Jeanne), Alan and James Steckel; daughters, Sheila (Chuck) Horsford and Shelly Steckel; sister Winifred "Winnie" Stevens, 14 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, January 21, 2022 in St. Joseph's Church, 5600 West Genesee Street, Camillus, New York. There will be no calling hours and burial will be private.
