Bernard Osman Hutchins passed peacefully on August 06, 2025 after a long illness, with his family by his side.
Bernard was born on November 15, 1931 in the town of Burke, in Franklin County, NY.
Bernard had several careers in his lifetime, including working in an ice factory, being a lumberjack, doing construction along the St. Lawrence Seaway, general construction where he traveled to several states, and finally, he retired from Kraft/Dean Foods as a Tow Motor Operator.
Bernard enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes, boating, playing cards and dice, working outdoors, and talking with his family members, especially a niece; Bessie.
Bernard is predeceased by his loving wife of 35 years; Josephine M. Hutchins (Polanco), and his daughters; Katherine Bissett and Barbara Hemingway (Val), his son; Henry Dobrouch, as well as 13 siblings, and his parents; Goldie and Andrew.
He is survived by his daughter; Jacqueline Heaphy (Pat) and grandchildren; Stephanie Nevills (Colby), Patrick Heaphy II (Theresa), Ashley Hemingway, Heidi Bissett (Jon), Michelle Bissett, Zachary Hemingway (Jas), great grandchildren; Jordyn Nevills(Bryant), Chase Nevills, Cort Nevills, Jonathan Heaphy, Alexander Heaphy and Jacob Bissett, a great-great grandson; Daxton Carter, sisters; Loretta Clary and Marjorie Allen, and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be at Traub Funeral Home, 684 North Main Street, Central Square, NY 13036, on Saturday August 16, 2025 at 11:00AM, with a gathering at the home of his daughter to follow.
