Betty A. Hillman

Betty A. Hillman, 63, passed away on Saturday August 09, 2025 with her loving family at her side.

Betty was born to Walter and Carol Bender in Syracuse on June 05, 1962. She worked various jobs over the years, and was most recently a cashier at Vella’s in Constantia. 

Betty loved the outdoors, and had a passion for fishing. Whitney Pond and the Salmon River in Redfield were some of her favorite spots. She enjoyed trapping and hunting alongside her husband; Don, and was a DEC Volunteer for Trapper Education. A social butterfly; Betty easily made friends anywhere she went.

 When she wasn’t outside, she liked to watch her game shows and crime shows with sweets or a bowl of ice cream, tell stories about the good ol’ days, and go on the occasional trip to the casino. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she loved the excitement of decorating.

Betty and Don raised and competed award winning coonhounds in UKC Bench Shows. She loved and spoiled all her dogs, and passed her love of competing hounds on to her grandchildren. 

Surviving is her dedicated husband and fishing partner; Donald Hillman, her children; Melissa Gates, Alicia (Jimmy) Nicholson, and Alexander (Courtney Clark) Gates, a grandson; Travis Montone, and her stepchildren, as well as several other grandchildren.
