Carolyn Rogers Obituary

Carolyn Kay Rogers, 92, of Central Square NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12. She was born in Binghamton NY, the daughter of the late Annetta Coffman Babcock on November 29, 1933. She is predeceased by her husband of 68 years Donald A Rogers and sons Eric and Daniel.

She is the proud mother of her children Jeffrey Rogers(Diane), Lee Rogers(Robin), Constance Miller(Michael) and Kyle Rogers (Stephanie). She is also survived by 6 grandchildren (Brett, Bryan, Erika, Nathan, Cameron and Wyatt), 3 great grandchildren.

Carolyn graduated from Binghamton City Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. A very determined woman, Carolyn received her B.S. in Nursing from Syracuse University and received her master’s degree from Syracuse University while raising a family of 5.

She began her nursing career as an emergency room nurse and at Crouse Irving Hospital School of Nursing as a Medical-Surgical Instructor and then an Oswego County public health nurse. She also served on the Board of Admissions at Syracuse University School of Nursing.

Carolyn retired from the NY State Health Department where she was a program director.

Carolyn served as the President of the New York League for Nursing from 1983 through 1987.  She was also a member of the National League for Nursing.

Carolyn served on the Central Square School Board from 1971 through 1983.

Carolyn was a fierce advocate for her children and there was never any need to guess where Carolyn stood on anything.  Her spark will be missed.
