Cheryl Ann (Duff) Barker, passed away peacefully at Upstate University Hospital on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 after fighting a long term illness surrounded by all of her loved ones.
A graveside service will be held at North Watertown Cemetery on Tuesday August 27, 2024 at 2:00PM. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 28 from 2:00PM-6:00PM, at her daughter Melissa's home in Parish. Contact Melissa or Kelly for details.
Cheryl was born on August 04, 1957 to the late Roy and Jean Duff of Watertown NY. She attended and graduated from Watertown High School. Cheryl married William Barker of Theresa NY, that ended in seperation. However, the couple remained a part of their children and grandchildren’s lives together.
Cheryl eventually moved to Hastings, NY to be closer to her children. She had various jobs over the years, such as Chesebrough Ponds Manufacturing and working as a Project Manager on Fort Drum Military Base until her medical issues took her out of work. Even so, she kept busy by running pitch leagues, enjoying sports, watching TV and being with her family and friends.
Cheryl loved being a Nana more than anything in the world. She loved bragging her grand children up every chance she got. When it came to her grandchildren, she didn’t miss any important events. Cheryl enjoyed bingo, playing pitch, and of course loved the casino. She loved spending time with so many friends and cherished her girls get togethers. She was also an active community member in the American Leigon and VFW.
Cheryl was always there to help anyone in need. If she could help you in anyway or solve a problem for you, she would. She was the toughest of the tough and fought a fierce fight until the very end. There will be a void in many of our lives without her in so many different ways. Cheryl was definitely the life of the party and enjoyed having fun.
She is Survived by her children and grandchildren; Melissa ( Harley “Jake”) McConnell, of Parish, Christopher Mitchell of Parish, Rachel Mitchell and Maddie Moo of Pulaski, Cassidy Ellen McConnell of Arlington VA, Daughter; Kelly Barker (Richard Yelle Jr.) of Hastings as well as her children, Mariah Walts of Parish, William, Richard and Riley of Hastings, Daughter; Darcy (Cecil) Blevins and her children; Katelyn, Raymond, Robert, Kiley, Amber and James of Kentucky.
