Chester Perkins Obituary

Chester A. Perkins, 92, of Hastings , passed away on March 22, 2022 in Liverpool. He was born on March 1, 1930 in Princeton, Maine to the late Arthur C. and the late Hilda T. (Shankel) Perkins. Chester was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 2020, and his son, Lawrence.

Chester graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in Maine. He then went to the University of Maine at Orono where he obtained his Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering. Right after college he began his career with General Electric where he retired from in 1986. He married Mary Strout on September 13, 1953 and they settled in Central Square in 1956 where they raised their family. Chester was very active in the First Universalist Church of Central Square and held several positions on their board. Chester was on the Board of Directors for the YMCA and he volunteered with RSVP every year to help people with their taxes at the Central Square Library. He delivered Meals on Wheels in the North Region. Chester enjoyed woodworking, golfing, and visiting with their families at their camp on Green Pond in Maine.

Chester is survived by his children, Kelvin (Kim) Perkins, Timothy (Tracey) Perkins, and Cheryl (Robert Figger) Perkins;  10 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for both Chester and Mary will be held at 2 PM  on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at First Universalist Church of Central Square
