With great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, the Heckle, Hinojosa, O’Hare families
announce the passing of our kind, brave, caring and unimaginably generous father,
brother, father-in-law, stepfather, and friend, Christopher John Heckle, 67, of Liverpool,
NY.
Chris was born on September 18 th , 1955 to Lucy and Joseph Heckle, III in Syracuse, NY.
He was raised at the Homestead of the Selkirk Lighthouse along the Salmon River. After
graduating from Pulaski High School, where he excelled in athletics, and was named
Prom King of Class of 1974, he worked for various companies in the automotive industry
as a Parts Manager for 30 years.
In 1980, Chris met Diane Heckle in Syracuse, NY. Chris and Diane went on to have one
child, Adam D. Heckle, and welcomed Justin and Trevor O’Hare as his loving stepsons.
Over his nearly 40 years in the North Syracuse area, Chris was known as a very social
person who loved to go out and meet people. To his closest friends and family he was a
key stone, a pillar and a confidant. He was a person you could rely on, and who would go
out of his way to help anyone in need.
Having grown up along the water he loved spending time on boats, and continued to do
so with his friends for many years. On his spare time, he played softball, was in bowling
and pitch leagues, and participated in golf tournaments. The one thing that he looked
forward to the most was fantasy football, wining many bets throughout the years.
He is survived by his loving son, Adam; his stepsons, Justin and Trevor; one brother,
Joseph; one sister, Mary; as well as beloved nieces, Georgia and Maggie; and nephews,
Joseph, and John.
If there is a place and time where Chris remains forever in our minds, it will be him in
his youth as a track start, reliving the excitement and adrenaline rush he got from the
race, crossing the finish line with his hands in the air, with a big smile on his face.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Traub Funeral Home,
Central Square, NY from 12pm to 2pm.
