Following a long illness Deborah D. Turtura, 75, of Bridgeport, New York passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, Born in Homer, New York she was predeceased by her mother, Dorothy F. Farley.
Deborah retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield in 2010 following 13 years of service as a Claims Supervisor. Deborah was also known affectionately as "Grammy," a nickname gifted to her by her grandchildren many years ago. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, as well as an amazing cook. Deb was known for being a huge Buffalo Bills fan. If she wasn’t rooting for her favorite football team she would often be found crafting for her loved ones.
Deborah is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, David Turtura; son, Scott (Brandy) Bathke; daughters, Heather (John) Palamara, and Amy (Chad) Hughes; grandchildren Morgan (Ryan), Hannah, Kali (Austin), Jonathen, Kasey, Chad Jr, Sydnee, and Rosalee; and bonus great-grandchildren.
Deborah was a fighter and will be remembered for her strength and resilience. Grammy, will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her warmth, love, and sunshine will forever be cherished in their hearts.
Grammy's family will be holding a private ceremony for immediate family members to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 in honor of Grammy's memory.
Deborah’s family is asking for privacy at this time.
A public Celebration of Life is being planned. Information will become available when arrangements are complete.
