Donald W. Conley, 91, of Bridgeport passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at his home.
Don was born in Utica, NY on July 14, 1932 to the late Francis and Emma Conley. After graduating from high school, he married Maureen McNeil on June 4, 1955 in Liverpool, NY. Donald dedicated many years at General Electric as an Offset Press Operator before his retirement.
A Funeral Mass will be held in Don’s honor at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Immediately following, he will be laid to rest with Maureen at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minoa. Friends and Family are also invited to a Celebration of Life at the Bridgeport VFW beginning at 2:30PM.
Donald proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was an avid member of the Bridgeport VFW, and volunteered his time regularly. You could always count on Don to help out with Chicken BBQ’s or the Food Pantry, Toys for Tots, or events like the Penguin Shoot Horseshoe Tournament. He was also a life member of the Korean War Veterans of Syracuse, and the Marine Corps League.
Old Western films were a particular favorite of Don’s. If the Encore Western channel wasn’t on the television, he was probably watching reruns of football games. He always enjoyed history, and even took up stamp collecting.
Survivors include his children; Tim Conley, Michael Conley, Robert (Deb) Conley and J. Matthew Conley, his siblings; Richard Conley, Joan Lawson, and Marilyn Allen, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Don is predeceased by his wife; Maureen, and his brother; Robert Conley.
Donations in Donald’s honor can be made to the Bridgeport VFW Post 8440, or Toys For Tots.
