Donald "Don" Sheldon Obituary

Donald "Don" W. Sheldon, 90, of West Monroe, New York passed away at home on Saturday, April 29, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of optimism, hard work, love for his family and a life long love of Oneida Lake and boating. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy (Hegarty) Sheldon who died in 2012. 

Memories of Don will be cherished by, daughters, Stacey (Joseph) Paura, Robyn Sheldon, Amy (Kurt) Kattrein; son, Christopher (Pamela) Sheldon; brother, David (Eleanor) Sheldon; brother-in-law, William Hegarty; 11 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a niece and three nephews. 

Don led a long and interesting life. He served in the United States Coast Guard. He worked at Barrett, Crouse Hinds and Carrier. He was an entrepreneur and he and his wife Nancy owned and operated Central Square Liquors, Rural Bolt  Company and Johnson Bay Marina. He enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycles, boating and anything you could do outside with family and friends. He enjoyed a good prank, Jeopardy, dominos, cards, and dogs, especially Golden Retrievers. His motto was "The family that works together eats together." His strong work ethic and unfailing optimism filled his life with good friends and great memories. Don's firm handshake and endless supply of humorous stories and adventures will be missed by many.
