Dorothy J. Painter

Dorothy Painter, 91, passed away peacefully after a short illness on October 18, 2024.

She was born on August 31, 1933, in Clarksdale, MS to Loma and Selma (Cauthen) Tomlin.

She enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, knitting, and spending time with family and friends.

Dorothy was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 915. She is predeceased in death by her husband of 67 years Robert; her parents; sister; Margaret; and son-in-law; David R. Hoyt.

She is survived by her daughters, Katherine J. (Kurt) Schmeling and Sharon A. Hoyt; granddaughter Kristin (Corey) Proper; great-grandchildren Noah and Riley Proper. She is also survived by several cousins.

Calling hours will be held at Traub Funeral Home Inc., in Central Square, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, with military honors to be presented at 7:00pm.
