Edward A. Miner, 83, a lifelong resident of the Binghamton area and a man of boundless energy and wit, passed away on February 25, 2026.
Born in Binghamton, NY, Ed was a proud graduate of Binghamton Central High School. Following graduation, he answered the call to duty by serving in the United States Air Force, a formative chapter that instilled in him a lifelong sense of discipline and patriotism. Upon his return to civilian life, Ed began a dedicated 32-year career with IBM. He was a mainstay at the company, respected by colleagues for his work ethic and the steady presence he brought to the office for over three decades.
While Ed worked hard, he lived for the "great outdoors" and the thrill of the game. He was a true Renaissance man of recreation: an avid sailor who loved the pull of the wind, a focused golfer, a swift skier, and a patient hunter. At home, he was the undisputed life of the party—a master mixologist who could stir the perfect drink and a notorious "card shark" who rarely met a hand he couldn’t play to his advantage.
Above all else, Ed was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maureen Miner, who was his partner in all of life’s adventures. His legacy lives on through his daughters and their families: Juliann Fennell (Barry), grandchildren Colin, Christopher, and Madison; Dawn Stewart (Jeremy), granddaughter Keira; Laura Boyd (Tim Girouard); Kathy Boyd (Lukas Neuburger).
He was a man who knew that a life well-lived required a sharp mind, a steady hand, and a good pour. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of sitting at his table or sailing in his wake.
In honoring Ed’s vibrant spirit and love for a good story, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared by the family once arrangements are finalized.
