Erich W. Metz

Erich Wilhelm Metz, 60, passed away in his Palermo home the afternoon of Friday, September 19th, 2025. 

Visitation will be held at Traub Funeral Home in Central Square on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 11:00AM - 1:00PM, closing with a service at 1:00PM.

Erich grew up in East Syracuse with his parents, Norma and Richard Metz, and five siblings, playing football and working in his family’s bakery. He later served in the Navy, developing skills that would benefit him in his line of work as a Senior Nuclear Reactor Operator at Nine Mile Point Plant, where he retired.

 He raised four children with his ex-wife and friend Cheryl Metz, later having two grandchildren who Erich loved dearly. Erich spent years enjoying his time with friends and family, spending summers at Saratoga Springs, and jamming out to the Grateful Dead.

 Erich is predeceased by his late father Richard Metz. He is survived by his mother, Norma Metz; five siblings, Barbara Mushock, Anita Martin, Elisabeth Fournier, Peter Metz, and Richard Metz; four children, Catherine Metz, Jessica Metz, Erich R Metz and Jennifer Metz; and two grandchildren, Erich C Metz and Emmett Metz. 

As Jerry Garcia sings, “I love you, oh but Jesus loves you the best, and we bid you goodnight”.
