Frances M. “Cookie” Cook, 72, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on November 6th, 2025.
Born and raised in Syracuse, Fran was a proud graduate of Henniger High School. She found fulfillment working with the Salvation Army, continuing her lifelong dedication to helping others. She then worked for Killian’s for 29 years, where she was known for her strong work ethic and kind spirit.
Fran was known for her generous and loving soul — always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word. She had a deep appreciation for her Native American heritage and a fondness for turquoise jewelry. To those who knew her, Fran was the most giving, passionate, and loyal person; no one was ever a stranger in her presence. Her compassion and love touched countless lives and will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Brandy Cook of Syracuse, NY; her beloved partner, Eric Vega of Syracuse, NY; her brother, Stephen Cook of Jamesville, NY; niece Donna Parker (Ray) of Pennellville, NY; James Dryden of Fulton, NY; and many great-nieces and nephews who adored her.
Fran is predeceased by her parents, Winifred and Carl Cook; her sister, Janet Dryden; brothers Doug Cook and George Cook; and brother-in-law, Jimmie Dryden.
If you wish to honor Fran’s legacy, be compassionate, be caring, and love with your whole heart — just as she did every day of her life.
