Francis Godici Obituary

Francis Patrick Godici, 82 of Oswego, NY, died Wednesday, September 11th at home surrounded by his family. Born October 11, 1941 the son of the late Frank Godici and Celia Castaldo Godici in Oswego, NY as part of a large, loud, loving Italian family who knew him as “Franny”. He attended Kingsford Park, Oswego High, Cayuga Community College and SUNY Oswego. Fran worked his way through college as a young father working at Cobb’s grocery store, construction and lifeguarding to make ends meet. After graduation he taught math at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, NY before leaving to become a self taught Software Engineer at General Electric in Syracuse, NY. He eventually furthered his education with a masters in computer science from Syracuse University and an MBA from Purdue University. Fran enjoyed a successful career that took him and his family to various places they called home including Phoenix, AZ; Plano, TX; Camp Hill, PA and Kwajalein, Marshall Islands before settling back in Scriba building a house next door to his in-laws. Fran’s career and adventurous spirit allowed him to visit all 50 states, numerous National Parks, Canada, Mexico, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Morocco and Saudi Arabia. After retiring at an early age he and his wife Betty sold their house and moved into their RV. They would spend the next 17 years wintering in warmer climates and summering in Oswego. They spent the majority of their winters in Americus, GA at the Brickyard golfing and socializing where they made many cherished friendships and where Fran was affectionately known as “The Mayor”. Fran was an avid fly fisherman and loved to golf and once boasted that his biggest problem was deciding if he was going to take his clubs or his fishing gear in his convertible as it wouldn’t fit both. Fran is reuniting with his loving wife of 61 years; Elizabeth ”Betty” Ruth Carroll Godici, his high school sweetheart and best friend who predeceased him on April 18, 2023. He is survived by his children; Karen (Marty) Muldowney of Tully, Greg Godici of Oswego, Ray (Linda) Godici of Mexico, Danny (Laura) Godici of Brewerton and Katie Godici of Oswego. He was a Grandfather/Poppy and will be missed by all of his grandchildren; Casey (Ahren) Studer, Michael Muldowney, Kaitlin (Zack) White, Domenic Godici, Julianna Godici, Alaina Godici, Braden Godici, Jacob Price, and Annabella Price. Great Grandchildren; Connor Studer, Isaac Studer, Bennett Studer, Silas White and Thea White. He is also survived by his sisters Christine (Bob) Holmes, and Lorraine Godici Greene, brothers-in-law Wayne Rapp, and James Huckabee and dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, and beloved wife Betty, Fran was predeceased by his infant daughter Cassandra Elizabeth Godici, sisters Anne Shirley Rapp, Diane Huckabee, and Kathleen Godici along with his brother Ronald Godici, granddaughter Maggie Price and his grandson Matthew Muldowney. There will be no public services.
