Gerald “Jim” C. Sheldon, 93, of Central Square, passed away on June 10, 2021. He was born on July 11, 1927 in Mallory, NY to the late Fred J. And the late Vernice (Courbat) Sheldon. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian (Matthys) in 1975.
Jim graduated from Main Street School in Central Square in 1943. He then joined the United States Navy and served during WWII. Jim worked for New Process Gear, Byrne Dairy as the “Milk Man”, and Reymore Chevrolet for many years. Jim was a member Central Square Fire Department and past Commander at American Legion Post 915. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at his DeRuyter hunting camp.
His hobbies included gardening, cutting wood, playing cards, and reading. His favorite thing to do was to care for his homestead for his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Alice (Mandigo); children, James (Stacey), Judy Comstock, Joanne Layman-Neeves, Jeffrey (Christine), Janine (James) Stewart, Ronald (Becky) Tyo, Deborah (Thomas) Stassi, and Mark (Lisa) Tyo; 21 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held privately.
