Howard Russell Rio, 89, of Caughdenoy, passed away peacefully with his children by his side on Monday evening.
He was born May 23, 1932 and lived in Central Square all of his life with his family and beloved wife, Sylvia. A graduate of Central Square Schools and Sergeant in the United States Army, Russ spent his days committed to working hard on the farm, lending an honest hand to those who needed one, and spending time with family and good friends. Loyal to family and traditional values, he could be found any day telling colorful stories of his childhood, growing up on the farm or time spent in the service. Russ taught us all how to laugh, cherish our memories, and appreciate the loved ones in our lives.
Russell is survived by his two sons, Donald and Bruce; three daughters, Denise, Susan, and Karen; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters Cathy and Maerlise.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2PM on Thursday, November 11 at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life for close friends and family at the American Legion, Post 915. Contributions may be made to the American Legion, Post 915.
