He married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty” Crammond on August 22, 1948. They had 69 wonderful years together before Betty passed away in 2017. He was a member of the NY National Guard. He worked at the Ticonderoga Paper Mill before moving to Central New York and joining the Union (Local 545 International Union of Operating Engineers). He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and Crane Operator for Syracuse Rigging before his retirement. John and Betty were long time members of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church and the Oneida YMCA, where both gave them many years of joy and lasting friendships.
He is lovingly survived by their daughters and their families: Bonnie (David) Henderson, Becky (Earl) Caporin, Carol (Mark) Wiggins; Grandchildren: Michelle (Dan), Jason, Danielle (Jamison), Jeffrey (Sara), Jeremy (Samantha), Anna (Chuck), Amanda (Sam), Molly (Ryan), Chelsea (Austin); 17 Great-Grandchildren; Sister Patricia (Marvin) Thatcher and many Nieces and Nephews along with many dear friends. Our Dad was the rock of our family and everyone he met was a friend. He was always there when you needed him, and fixer of all things. He instilled a strong work ethic in us. A man of integrity, humility and true character. Our hearts are broken, but he is once again in the arms of his beloved Betty.
