John Alexander Brown

John Alexander Brown, 48, of Bridgeport, passed away on September 24, 2021. 

John was born in Syracuse on July 18, 1973 to Lester Brown and Diane Church and grew up in Lakeport. John was a mechanic and truly enjoyed working with his hands. He devoted several years to Sun Chevrolet and more recently worked for Brightview Landscaping. John exhibited a tremendous work ethic and took his job seriously, though his great sense of humor and playful personality lightened the mood in the garage and office. He was very strong, both physically and mentally, and demonstrated grit and resilience throughout his life. John was a quintessential outdoorsman and was always happiest when he was fishing, hunting, sitting fireside or tending to his garden. His love for the great outdoors ran deep, and he felt most at peace in his own backyard, appreciating the nature that surrounded him and taking pride in the upkeep. 

John was a true and loyal friend and was often the source of funny jokes and lighthearted banter. However, it was his family that was always his number one priority. John loved his family more than anything and was something that he proudly and often mentioned. He faithfully cared for his mother, even at the time of her passing. His children meant the world to him. John was a loving and devoted husband, nurturing and doting father and stepfather, and loyal and protective brother. Anyone that truly knew him, knew that John had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. 

John is predeceased by his parents, Lester and Diane Brown. He is survived by his wife, Kristy (Roberts) Brown; his daughters Alexis and Samantha; stepson Dylan; brother Chris (Jordana) Brown; close friends Frank and Linda Brayton; extended family; and numerous friends, who were also extended family. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 18th. at 1pm, at the Bridgeport VFW. Additionally, a birthday celebration will take place on July 16th, at 2pm, at the Jim Marshall Farm on New Boston Road in Chittenango.
