John W. Doris Jr.

John W. Doris Jr., 72, of Kirkville, passed away on November 25, 2024. He was born April 5, 1952, in Utica, NY to the late John W, Doris Sr. and the late Ruth (Linebeck) Files.

John was predeceased in death by the love of his life, Beverly J. Doris (O’Dell); his daughter Brenda L. Doris; his son John W. Doris Jr.; brother, Charles Doris; sister, Cathy Graves; and Uncle, Chuck Doris Sr.

John and Beverly owned and operated BB’s Corner Store in Kirkville. They were active in foster care at Hillside for several years, as well as a family care provider for over 20 years.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching basketball and football, golfing, hunting, fishing, cooking, camping, and having big cookouts. He liked cooking outside on his grill. John was a jokester and loved telling jokes. He was a very loving and caring man, he would help anyone he could. He would put everyone else before his own needs.

John is survived by his children, Christy (Fred) Whitehead, Michael (Racquel) Doris, Julie (Lory) Landers, and Vicky Leonardo (Doris); Daughter-in-law, Melissa Doris; siblings, Donna Walker, Kelly (Leo) Lafleur, Stella Doris, and Debbie Rocco; Grandchildren, Amanda (Clarence) Allen, John (Jack) Doris, Dominick Doris, Kaitlyn Whitehead, McKenzie Whitehead, Ashley and Michael Whitehead, Kayla Leonardo, Adrianna Leonardo, Madison Leonardo, Heather Artz, and Sarah Reith; Great-Grandchildren, Clarence, Royce, Easton, Jasper (“JJ”), Genevieve (“GG”), Mila, Jeremy Elijah, Isaiah, Alaia, Vivianna, Tabious, Ashton, Max, Zak, and Greyson; his companion, Lana Eddy; his dog Bella; along with many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will take place Monday, December 2, 2024, from 10:00am -12:00pm at Traub Funeral Home Inc., 7975 Route 31, Bridgeport, Ny, with a funeral service following at 12:00pm. A graveside service will immediately follow at Pine Plains Cemetery in Kirkville, NY.
