John R. Dudley, 91, passed away at home with his family by his side after a long illness on Friday, August 9, 2024.
John was born on June 21, 1933, to the late Willard and Ruth (Dougherty) Dudley. Upon graduating from Liverpool High School, he joined the Marine Corp. When John returned home from the service, he began his career in the construction field. He began his career with D.H. Fellowes Construction, then went on to be Vice President of R.B. Hazard Construction, and then went on to work for Congel Hazard Construction. In 1968, John started his own construction company, John R. Dudley Construction Inc. HE continued to be active in the corporation until shortly before his passing.
Some of John’s enjoyments in life were spending time at his lake house in Henderson Harbor with his friends and family.
In Addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his wife, Jill Murphy Dudley; his longtime companion, Dorothea Donahue; and grandson, Kiel Dudley.
Those who are left to cherish John’s memory are his sons, Brian (Annmarie) of Oswego, Mark (Debbie) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Todd (Crystal) of Oswego, and John Jr. (Sara) of Virginia; his daughter, Deborah (Bernie Waldron) of Hastings; siblings, Peter (Louise) of Erieville, NY, and Barbara Brand Tomi of Webster, NY; his 12 grandchildren, Amanda, Jeanee, Katie, Sara, Jacob, Luke, Jill, Sage, Jarrett, Xavier Eve, Andrew (Erica), Matthew, and Adam; great-granddaughters, Averie and Addison; member of Dorthea’s family, Jay and Debbie Leo and their children Elizabeth and Alexander; John’s special friend, Gloria Hourihan; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be private to the family.
