John W. English, 77, of Mexico New York passed away peacefully on July 10th with his partner and daughters by his side.
Born May 24, 1948, in Syracuse New York to Richard and Berniece English, John was the personification of hard work, dedication and kindness.
John was a graduate of Paul V Moore High School in Central Square and attended Alfred University.
As a young man, John helped his grandfather maintain the House Family Farm and worked as a butcher at Lows Cash Store for his uncle. Much of John’s work life, however, was spent devoted to the land surveying business started by his father. John obtained his license and went on to become the sole proprietor of English Land Surveyors.
John found joy in the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, archery, and bird watching were among his favorite activities.
John was predeceased by his parents and his brother, David.
John is survived by his partner in life, Louise Tanner, two daughters, Tricia (Troy) Eldred and Rusanne (Damian) Masters, along with five grandchildren, Troy Eldred Jr., Emily Eldred, Jacob Eldred, Taylor Billings, Alexandra Billings, two great grandchildren, Harper Eldred, and Colton Billings-Smith, as well as his sister, Teresa and several wonderful cousins, nieces, and nephews.
To all who knew him, John will be remembered for his quick wit, kind spirit, integrity and above all an endearing sense of humor.
Calling Hours will be held at Traub’s Funeral Home in Central Square on July 25th from 10:00 am to noon with a graveside service to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
