On Tuesday August 3, John Wayne Gordon, loving husband and father of four boys, chose to leave this earth. John was born March 12, 1982 to Elna (Hedlund) and Phillip Gordon. He attended Chittenango Central Schools where he excelled in football and lacrosse. John forged forever bonds with many friends with whom he shared his passionate spirit and great sense of humor. His big heart meant that he was always there to lend a hand and John always had a project underway. He was his son Brayden’s number one fan, and especially loved cheering him on from the sidelines of the basketball court. He also loved gathering with friends, working out, music, boating, and fishing with his brothers. He treasured the time he spent with family and friends along the Saint Lawrence River during annual summer vacations. Our memories with John will live forever in our hearts; his spirit and the time spent with him will always be cherished. John is survived by his wife of seven years Jessica (Hughes), his son Brayden, and their three children Liam, Mason, and Clayton; his brothers Steve (Jen), Sam (Julia), and J.J. (Shanyn); 13 nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law Terri (Sam) Spinella, father-in-law Jim Hughes, and sister-in-law Jennifer (Colin) Nicolette; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family will be hosting a celebration of John’s life on Friday August 20th from 1pm to 5pm at Chittenango Falls State Park; there will be a memorial service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made toward the establishment of a trust fund for John’s sons through www.mealtrain.com/trains/z0w3mo .
