John M. Pierce, 93, of Parish, New York formerly of North Syracuse, New York died peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2024 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Syracuse, New York. Born in Fulton, New York on March 1, 1931 to the late John M. and Adalaide Ballard Pierce.
Mr. Pierce was a well known shoe salesman for many years with the Brown Shoe Company. Following retirement, J.P. moved to Parish and became active in the community, from being a Boy Scout Leader, life member of the Parish Volunteer Fire Department. One of his favorite activities was the relationships he developed while delivering for Meals on Wheels. He was a very active member and Lay Minister at the Parish United Methodist Church and participated in activities at other area churches. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, canoeing and hunting. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was predeceased by his wife the former Barbara May Fowler.
He is survived by daughters, Dorinda (Tom) Terriah and Roxanne (Jim) Bolson; son, John (Debbie) Pierce; brother, Richard Pierce; grandchildren, James (Dawn), Michael (Bridget) Bolson, Heather Ripley, Denise (Robert) Heflen, Mark and Shawn Pierce, Shari (Alain) Garcia; 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00am on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Parish United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rich Barling officiating, 418 South Railroad Street, Parish, New York.
At the request of John's family in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Parish Volunteer Fire Department.
