Joseph “Joe” Hainey, age 73, died Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents James and Virginia Macholl Hainey; sister Kathleen (Bertram) Reis and his former wife Vicki Hainey.
He is survived by his son Jamie (Jenna); sister Clara (James) Woods; brothers Michael (Susan), Thomas (Susan) and Louis Hainey, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joe is also survived by his former wife Cathy Hainey; stepchildren Mark (Faith) and Tora Ryder; grandchildren Gavin, Mark, Holly, and Carter.
Joe was a 1969 graduate of Marcellus High School and went on to work in the trucking industry as a truck driver 39 years (1970-2009) for P&C foods. He enjoyed meeting and visiting with fellow truck drivers and friends at truck stops and P&C stores. Throughout his career he received many awards and enjoyed participating in truck rodeos. Joe had many loves in his life but the one that was a constant was a love of cars. A classic car enthusiast Joe could always be found tinkering on one of his multiple classic cars. Driving his cars to local car shows was a past time Joe also enjoyed. Joe loved to sit and visit, with a twinkle in his eye he shared some of his great sense of humor and a story or two. Joe also held a lifelong interest in American Military History. After retiring Joe became a snow bird and spent winters in South Daytona with his brother Lou and a large group of friends.
As per Joe’s request there will be no services.
