Joshua Lou Smith passed away peacefully on November 15th, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones.
Joshua was born to Lewis Smith and Mary Croteau on December 8th,1983, in Syracuse, New York. Growing up in Central Square, he attended the Central Square School district. In December of 2005, Joshua became a father to his daughter Hayliann, who he loved very much. Joshua was a jokester and a very lighthearted individual. He was a lover and protector, always ensuring the people he loved were safe. Joshua was one of those whose smile lit up the room and could make anyone laugh.
He was gifted with his hands in many ways and was knowledgeable in many subjects. Joshua loved to learn about the world and frequently tuned in to NPR. Anyone who knew him has seen his countless drawing and art pieces, including carpentry designs. Some of his other hobbies included gardening, being in nature, cooking, and tending to his fish aquarium. Joshua was sure to learn everything he could to keep his fish happy. Joshua was pursuing a career in the medical field but held countless other positions in his life. Construction and pool building were some of the more notable jobs, but his favorite was being a father.
Joshua is predeceased by: his mother, Mary Croteau, his siblings Timothy Smith, Ellen Budzisz, and John Leboeuf. He is survived by his father, Lou Smith; his beloved daughter; Hayliann Smith; his fiance Rebecca O’Brien; his siblings Dwayne Smith, Kelleejean Lounsbery, Ronnie Smith, Heidi Smith, Rhonda Johnston, Joe Croteau, Adam (Tisha) Croteau, Marilou West, Faith (Franky) Alston, Crystal (Jeremy) Skiff; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a bright soul who will be eternally missed by many.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at 2:00 pm, at Northside Baptist Church, 7965 Oswego Rd in Liverpool, with a Celebration of Life and time to share memories to follow at 2:30 pm.
