Judith M. Merkel

Judith M. Merkel (Husted) passed away at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital at 8:34AM on April 25th, 2026, with her son Frank and daughter-in-law Bonnie Merkel by her side after a long fight with lung cancer. 

Judith was born to the late Francis “Frank” Eugene Husted (1905-1984) and Sarah Frances “Fran” Husted (Baker) (1919-2016) on August 05, 1947. She grew up on West Onondaga Street in Syracuse, attended Central Tech High School in Syracuse, and eventually came to be the Owner and Manager of Maple Bay Marina & Restaurant in Cicero, NY. She married Vincent P. Morgan, who preceded her in death in 1994.

Judy enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, and spending time at the casino playing slots.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband; Vince Morgan, her sister; Kathy Spears (Husted) and her brother; Charles Husted. 

Surviving is her son; Frank E. Merkel, daughter in law; Bonnie L. Merkel, her grandchildren; Cameron F. Merkel-Yablonski and his wife Elizabeth Merkel-Yablonski , of Binghamton, Erika A. Bishop (Merkel) and her husband Tyler Bishop, of Baldwinsville, Ryan A. Merkel, of Albany, Collin F. Merkel, of Constantia, and Logan S. Merkel, also of Constantia. 

Judy will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Syracuse, NY, with her parents.
