Kenneth Goessl Obituary

Mr. Kenneth R. Goessl, 91, of Bardeen Road, town of Hastings, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Monday, August 30, 2021 in his home, with his loving and supportive family at his bedside.

Ken was born on April 9, 1930, in Milwaukee, WI to the late Oliver Goessl and Mary Vera (Arroway) Parker. He also had a brother Clarence Goessl.  On September 20, 1952, Ken was united in marriage with Betty Walts; his loving devoted wife of nearly 69 years. On November 16, 1949 he proudly answered the call of duty enlisting with the US Marine Corp. He was proud to serve as a radio man in the Korean War. Holding the rank of Corporal, he received an honorable discharge on April 12, 1952.

After his service, he spent many years, being a taxi driver and truck driver. In the last decade of his life he spent his time connecting online with fellow Marines and extended family and friends. In 2012, he completed the publication of his biography Short Timer and until his illness, he was working on his second book.

Surviving Ken are his wife Betty and their children, Robert Goessl and wife Dana, Janice Corsette, Mike Goessl and wife Kandie, Gaynl Kohler, Karen White and husband Larry and daughter in law Kris Goessl; he was predeceased by his son, Stanley Goessl.  Also surviving are their 20 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.  Ken’s family would like to personally express their sincere appreciation and love for the wonderful nurses at the Syracuse VA Hospital and Oswego County Hospice, who provided more than a decade of exceptional support and care.

In respecting Ken’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will take place at the convenience of his family.  Traub Funeral Home, Central Square, has been entrusted with arrangements for cremation. Kindly send contributions in his memory to: Oswego County Comets Charitable Motorcycle Club. 182 Munger Hill Rd, Mexico, NY 13114.
