Mary E. Harrington

Mary Elizabeth Harrington of Central New York and Ft. Lauderdale Florida gently passed away the evening of the 29thday of January with her family by her side holding her hands through life’s eternal gate and joining her beloved son Brent to help watch over us all. Mary was born on February 26th in the year of 1956 to the late Nancy (Walters) Milchrest and Thomas Fogarty. Mary is survived by Jerry Harrington, her Sons’ Shane and Ryan Harrington, Grandchildren: Hailie, Rylee, and Sierra, Siblings: Mike and Danny Fogarty, and Sue Colin.

Mary was a loving and caring Mother and Grandmother who filled her heart with her family and friends, the beach, art and her many cats. Mary’s creativity blossomed in the various crafts she made, her paintings and the blankets she crocheted. Sunshine and seashells were her calling after she moved south from the wonderful life she gave us on the River. Like her heart Mary kept the cookie jar full and like her flowers her smile was always blooming. Mary’s held closest to her heart the most dear thing she loved,  her Grandchildren Hailie, Rylee, and Sierra! Whenever she saw you Mary’s face would light up like a firecracker of joy. 

Mary lived as a housewife, crafter, and a home health aide. She not only cared for friends and family, she also worked as a caregiver helping those in need. She spent her down time gardening, painting, walking beaches collecting seashells, and soaking up the warmth of the sun.

Mary will be so very missed! Her long struggle with diabetes has come to an end and peace is with her. May she continue to look over us like she always has baking cookies, planting roses, listening to the Allman Brothers, painting the world around her while the sun warms her and the breaking wave soothe her. May she continue to laugh with us and warm us with her smile. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend who’s time was taken from her way to early! To all who knew and loved her always hold onto the good times and know she is in a better place now!

There will be a Visitation at Traub Funeral Home in Central Square, 684 N Main Street, Central Square NY from 11am to 1pm, Wednesday, February 3rd to celebrate Mary’s life and say goobye.
